Who are we?

We are a group of people who have studied in the UK and have returned to Slovakia.  Many of our members studied under the British Foreign Office's Chevening Programme and other British government funded programmes.  But we are open to anyone who has studied at a UK institute of higher education and is interested in keeping in touch.  Our members include a wide range of Slovaks, from lawyers to doctors, and business people to academics.

What do we do?

We meet up on a regular basis for a variety of events.  Events include listening to an interesting British or Slovak speaker on a current topic of interest, discussions with the British Ambassador and staff from the Embassy and British Council and Christmas parties!  The events are member-led so any suggestions are welcome.  All our events are a great networking opportunity members to meet fellow alumni, and are also held in English giving you the chance to keep your language skills up to scratch.

How are we run?

An elected steering committee of voluntary members (current six) manages the alumni association.  Elections for the steering committee take place annually.  The British Embassy and British Council also provide support and are involved in most of our events.  We keep in touch with people through maintaining a contacts database of the names and details of all our members.

What do you need to do?

Interested?  If so, then get in touch with the Press Section.  We look forward to welcoming you as new members!
