Disabled access
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and this Embassy are keen to ensure that their buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public. Wherever possible, we have made our buildings and services accessible. Sometimes, however, this is not possible due to security or other restrictions. In these situations we will endeavour to provide a service or access to a building in an alternative way to ensure equality of access for disabled people. To assist disabled visitors, we have set out below details of disabled access at this Embassy. We hope this information is helpful.
General physical access
Wheelchair access: All floors to which the public are likely to need access in the Embassy building and are accessible by lifts from the ground floor of the building.
- Toilets: there is a toilet for wheel-chair users / people with limited physical mobility on the ground floor of the main office building. An alarm facility is available. Access is via a small set of stairs, but the Embassy holds a powered stairclimber to allow the stairs to be climbed.
- Entrance to the waiting areas is also up a series of small stairways. Again a stairclimber is available. Embassy staff receive regular practice to ensure their familiarity with the equipment.
- Parking: From 09:00 until 05:00 the next morning vehicle access to the Embassy is strictly limited and parking is not permitted in the immediate vicinity of the Embassy. The nearest public parking is in the Hotel Carlton underground car park.
